Rep. Bill Taylor is serving his seventh term in the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing House District 86, covering about two-thirds of Aiken County and the western portion of Lexington County. He serves on the House Ways & Means Committee and the subcommittees for Higher Education and Income and Sales Tax.
Rep. Taylor has had many legislative leadership roles, serving six years as Chairman of the House Higher Education Committee and six years on the House Legislative Oversight Committee. He has also chaired numerous Special Committees.
One of his significant legislative achievements was the 2022 passage of the Article V Convention of States Resolution – nine years in the making in South Carolina.
Before being elected in 2010, Rep. Taylor had a forty-year career in media. He is a former television reporter, producer, anchorman, and news director. He was a partner in forming a media consulting firm that grew into a family of companies stretching from Dallas to Los Angeles and London. For more than three decades, Rep. Taylor was a media consultant providing advice to broadcast and cable networks, Hollywood studios, and scores of local TV stations and newspapers.
